After you have downloaded the ISIS software, you have to double click on the installer. This will install the backup software in the correct directories of you computer. You will need to have 45 Mb of free disk space in order to install the software.Mac OS9 Installing
To Install The ISIS 2.3 Mac Software
- un-BinHex the file using StuffitExpander if the Netscape browser doesn't automatically convert it.
- delete the file ISIS.sit.hqx, and ISIS.sit if it still exists
In the ISIS 2.3 folder, double click on the ISIS 2.3 Installer file
MacOSX Installing
ISIS Base is not an OSX native application. It still runs under OS9.You will need to know your Administrator Password to install this software.

This will install the ISIS Installer folder in a directory of your choice. Open this folder and double click on the ISIS 2.3 Installer application. This will start up OS9 and install ISIS Base, ISIS Draw and other files.
You now have to run the program called ISIS 2.3.
You will be asked for your real name and your CMGM/PMGM username. This is needed because CMGM/PMGM functions as the server that holds all the MDL databases. Your local computer is just a front end that helps you build queries to the Oracle database on CMGM/PMGM that stores all the information.
If you are a member of the Bioinformatics Resource, you should have your own personal account that you can use. If your lab is not a member of the Bioinformatics Resource, you can still get a group account that will let you use the MDL database. However, you will not have access to the large library of Mac/PC/UNIX software that

You will then be asked for the specific license code to unlock the MDL installer.
